- Included sensor-modified hopup allows the AEG to prevent firing when empty (dryfire-lock).
- Switch add-on for the bolt release and/or charge handle resets the dryfire-lock.
- Less dryfiring reduces stress on the gearbox and decreases reload reaction time.

What features are unique to the Scorpion controller?
It includes the following features not found on any other MOSFET controller:
- Converts most AEG models into a PTW equivalent high realism model (bolt cocking, anti-dryfire, etc).
- Perfect full cycle completion like the Revolution GB and PTW, but better due to active braking.
- Adaptive RoF control, the best and smartest form of AEG speed control. (invented by AWS)
- Foolproof sensor-based burst fire, absolutely no gear timing or guessing involved.
- The smallest in EVERY dimension at just 1.49 x 0.54 x 0.35 inch.
- Lowest voltage requirement at just 2.5V, so no setup+battery combination will EVER cut-off early.
- High maximum voltage rating at 22V, perfect for custom batteries in order to achieve extreme RoF.
- Lowest sleep current at just 30uA, lower then a battery's self discharge rate!
- Largest copper trace cross-section, so the PCB can actually handle the MOSFET's current rating.
How hard is it to install the Scorpion controller in my AEG?
All you need to do is solder the trigger wiring (which every MOSFET requires you to do) and just glue 2 switches to the inside of your AEG...and you're done! The switches are already pre-soldered to thier respective wiring so you don't need to do much.
But don't take our word for it, just look for yourself at how simple and short the manual is!
Is the gear switch for the GB neccessary? There are other burst unit that do use one.
Which is why the features mentioned above are currently exclusive to AWS Pulse/Scorpion MOSFET controllers only. They all require knowing the exact position of the gears in order to work properly, and that involves installing an internal gear switch. The current sensorless burst controllers on the market are all timing based, which has has too many discrepancies on full-auto to allow any of the above feaures to be possible.
Since you'll need to open the gearbox to solder the trigger wiring anyways, it can't be any harder to spend an extra few second to epoxy a tiny switch to the gearbox. All those features to be unlocked will surely outweigh the few seconds of work!
Why is the minimum required voltage so low? There aren't batteries near 2.5V.
The low minimum voltage requirement isn't really for the battery, but rather how serious a line-voltage dip (aka. "voltage droop") during motor operation the controller can sustain. For example, if a motor is demanding more current then the battery can output, less current is shared with the controller, therefore it'll "see" a major drop in the line-voltage. With the mininum voltage at 2.5V, even the worst of voltage drops will not affect the circuit, and any lower would certainly signify a short circuit!
But there are also other benefits. When a MOSFET controller claims to have low-voltage cut-off, it means the minimum voltage the controller needs to operate, which can be troublesome if the cut-off kicks in while the battery can still push the gearbox just fine. But now, such a low requirement means the battery will be able to discharge for as long as possible without risking an early cut-off. In fact, with any battery, you'll be able to fire to the point where an audible drop in RoF will let you know ahead of time you're running low on battery.
Does the full cycle completion let me remove the anti-reversal latch?
Yes! But just so you know, heavily used motors with worn down brushes will be less effective when braking and might still pull the piston back by 1-2 teeth (still very good!) which might will create a bit of gear reversal sound after firing. If you're fine with that or the noise is not audible, then by all means remove the latch to make your GB assembly easier.
Is the bolt cocking compatible with blowback mods?
Yes! Assuming the user enabled "Scorpion bolt-cocking mode" on the control panel (which realistically stops the AEG from firing when the bolt is pulled back), the AEG only checks to see if the bolt is cocked at the end of each cycle, not mid-cycle, so you never have to worry about the blowback function causing the AEG to cease firing.
Are the Modify Smooth Gear Set and Cyclone Dual-Sector Gear compatible?
Yes, the gear detection switch will not obstruct the Modify Smooth Gear Set and is fully capable of detecting both "cycles" of the Cyclone Dual-Sector Gear.
Can the piston be stopped at near-full compression for instant trigger response?
Yes, but we do not recommend this! Gearboxes are prone to jamming if the piston stops at a very high compression state due to insufficient startup torque. But if you really need this, you can "trick" the controller's full cycle completion feature by repositioning the gear detection switch to the opposite side of the sector gear. This will allow the gearbox to always stop at a very high piston compression state, allowing instantaneous next shot reponse.
Are there any built-in fuses to protect the controller?
If we were to add a fuse, that would defeat the purpose of using a 200A MOSFET (and 200A fuses are huge!). So rather then forcing a common fuse rating into everyone's AEG, it is better to give users the choice of whether to add a fuse or not. Therefore, no fuse is included on the controller.
But not to worry, the controller already has short-circuit, over-current, and over-temperature detection without the need for a fuse! Although an external fuse can still come in handy for preventing your battery from outputting more current than it's rated for, especially li-polys. In fact, we sell resettable fuses which can be reused and are low-profile. Just be sure your AEG draws less than the fuse rating.
Are metal hopups accepted for ammo the sensor modification?
Yes, we are capable of drilling holes in metal hopups just as easily as plastic ones.
Will the hopup ammo sensor mod affect the air seal?
Absolutely not! The sensors in no way interfere with the air seal between the nozzle and hopup bucking.
Can I send my AEG/gearbox/wiring harness in for modding/soldering?
Yes, we have already done dozens of AEG installations that customers have sent in, and even more for gearboxes and wiring harnesses. If you're not good at soldering or AEG assembly, please do not hesistate to ask for our help!
